Goldie - Queen of the Water Jungle

Goldie, also known as the queen of the water jungle, has been with us since June 2000. It was a momentous occasion when she was brought into our home, as she was a real survivor. Unfortunately, the other 6 fish we had adopted all slowly died one by one - all to which we bear full responsibility due to the lack of knowledge at that point in time regarding aquarium up keeping. However we have learnt our lessons and Goldie is very much the happy little fish (well, not so little anymore) residing in a new larger tank with her new buddies. Goldie is the maternal one of the lot, and this is made obvious when Sass and the other white clouds tend to like seeking the occasional refuge amongst her rich feathering fantail. Goldie prefers to play the motherly role where she is very often seen swimming around with the white clouds and they look very much like a precious little family. Goldie and Midnight have also seemed to have struck up a good rapport eversince they met, and are quite regularly together.

Midnight

Midnight, our black moor, is a mischevious and quite the cheeky one whose hobbies include playing tricks on the white clouds and often is seen playing hide and seek with Sass and Bide. The polar opposite of Goldie, Midnight enjoys being the centre of attention and often tries to establish this through his constant ploys to practise his 'Free Midnight' routine (adapted from the Free Willy movie) where he makes a little splash jumping out of the surface of the water whenever fed.

Sass(bottom) and Bide

Sass is the female of the two redcaps and like Goldie, has a slightly quieter demeanor when compared to Bide. Hence it is of no surprise that Sass and Goldie are very close and often hang out together. Bide is the male counterpart of the two redcaps and is distinguishable from Sass due to the possession of a rich golden cape over his back. Much to Midnight's dismay, Bide likes countering Midnight's cheeky ways by swimming very closely behind his tail as an attempt to play his own made up game of hide and seek. However they do get along well most of the time apart from these few incidents. Sass and Bide like swimming amongst the greenery in the tank and are also the most people-friendly, loving the regular interaction with people.

Moe, Larry and Curly

Our three neon tetras, who we have affectionately called Moe, Larry and Curly after the three stooges, are the show stoppers of the aquarium due to their lush attention-grabbing shades of a rich neon blue, streaks of red and gold. Very active and playful, they are at their happiest playing with the white clouds. That said, they are often seen mucking about in the tank with Sass and Bide and are often seen swimming between the greenery and up and under the wooden logs.
